Other occupants in the three vehicles sustained minor injuries.

American Airlines Grounds Flights Nationwide Due to Technical Glitch

American Airlines grounded all flights in the US for about an hour on Tuesday morning due to a technical issue caused by a vendor technology problem. The issue, which disrupted the calculation of flight weight and balance requirements, was resolved, and flights resumed later in the morning. The brief disruption affected over 1,000 flights, primarily in major hubs like Charlotte and Dallas/Fort Worth, with delays ranging from one to three hours. Federal rules introduced this year may entitle affected passengers to compensation for significant delays or cancellations, including meal vouchers, hotel accommodations, and automatic refunds under certain conditions. The incident occurred during a peak travel period leading up to Christmas, with airports bracing for heavy holiday traffic.

Iran Faces Military and Proxy Defeats Amid Israeli Strikes and Regional Shifts

Iran’s weakened position due to setbacks from Israeli strikes, proxy defeats, and the fall of Syria's Assad regime has heightened concerns that the country may pursue nuclear weapons. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, briefing the incoming Trump administration, highlighted Iran’s increased uranium enrichment to 60%, just shy of weapons-grade, and the risk of Tehran revising its nuclear doctrine. Western nations have urged Iran to de-escalate its nuclear program, citing the lack of a credible civilian need for high-purity uranium. The Trump administration, set to take office in January, may reintroduce a "maximum pressure" strategy to leverage Iran's vulnerabilities into negotiating a new nuclear agreement.

Joel Embiid Ejected After Heated Argument Over Charge Call

The Philadelphia 76ers secured a 111-106 win over the San Antonio Spurs despite a tumultuous first half, highlighted by Joel Embiid's ejection following two technical fouls for arguing a charge call. Another chaotic moment occurred when Andre Drummond's initial ejection was overturned after video review, with Victor Wembanyama receiving and then having a technical foul for flopping rescinded. Embiid, who contributed nine points in 14 minutes before his ejection, did not address the incident postgame. Tyrese Maxey’s 32 points and late-game heroics sealed the victory for Philadelphia, while Wembanyama impressed with 26 points, nine rebounds, and eight blocks amid persistent boos from the crowd.
