21-Year-Old Arrested After Allegedly Killing Pedestrian in Car Wash Hit-and-Run

Christian Palma Hernandez, 21, is accused of fatally hitting 63-year-old Stirling Kelso with his car at a Utah car wash, then cleaning his car just feet away from the dying victim before fleeing. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Hernandez striking Kelso, washing his car afterward, and then driving away. Police identified and arrested him the following day, and he reportedly admitted to the crime, stating he was scared and unsure what to do. Hernandez now faces multiple charges, including hit and run and leaving the scene of an accident.

Oklahoma Prepares for More Severe Weather After Weekend Tornadoes

Tropical Storm Rafael formed in the Caribbean on Monday, bringing heavy rain and mudslides to Jamaica, with hurricane warnings in effect for the Cayman Islands. Forecasts suggest Rafael may strengthen into a hurricane before hitting Cuba with dangerous conditions by Wednesday. The storm is then expected to reach the Gulf of Mexico and possibly impact the U.S. Gulf Coast by Saturday, though the exact path remains uncertain. North Korea Fires Short-Range Missiles Ahead of U.S. Election Day

On the eve of the U.S. presidential election, North Korea launched several short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea, with missiles traveling roughly 250 miles. The launch follows North Korea’s recent ICBM test, capable of reaching the U.S. mainland. Experts suggest North Korea aims to leverage its missile capabilities in potential negotiations with the U.S. Amidst rising tensions, concerns also mount over North Korea’s cooperation with Russia, as North Korean troops are reportedly aiding Moscow in Ukraine. U.S., South Korean, and Japanese forces conducted joint air drills in response, which North Korea denounced.

BYU to Host Kansas for Primetime Big 12 Showdown on ESPN

BYU is set to host the Kansas Jayhawks at LaVell Edwards Stadium on November 16, 2024, with kickoff scheduled for 8:15 p.m. MT on ESPN. This will be BYU’s second matchup against Kansas since joining the Big 12, after a 38-27 defeat last season in Lawrence. Kansas, currently with a 2-6 record, was initially a Big 12 title contender but has struggled in conference play. Meanwhile, BYU, undefeated at 8-0, leads the Big 12 standings after preseason expectations had them ranked 13th. This game will mark Kansas’s first visit to Provo.
