Crew-8 Astronauts Return to Earth After Extended 236-Day Mission
Four astronauts from NASA's Crew-8 mission safely returned to Earth on Friday after a 236-day mission in space, splashing down in the Gulf of Mexico. After completing standard post-flight medical checks, NASA sent all four to a medical facility for additional evaluations as a precaution. The crew — NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Jeanette Epps, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin — originally planned to return two months earlier, but delays due to issues with Boeing's Starliner capsule and Hurricane Milton extended their stay. Crew-8 orbited Earth 3,776 times and traveled over 100 million miles during their mission. Seven Expedition 72 crew members remain on the International Space Station.

38 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Airstrikes in Khan Younis
Early Friday, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza’s Khan Younis area resulted in the deaths of at least 38 Palestinians, with dozens more injured, as reported by the Palestinian Ministry of Health. In addition, Israeli forces raided Kamal Adwan Hospital, asserting that Hamas uses hospital facilities for terrorist purposes. Israel assisted in transferring 23 patients and 26 escorts to other hospitals amid escalating humanitarian concerns. According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, the hospital is facing extreme conditions, and the health system is on the verge of collapse. The international community has been urged to respond, as criticism from Jordan's Foreign Minister calls Israel’s actions “ethnic cleansing.” The International Court of Justice is also involved, ordering Israel in January to halt actions perceived as atrocities.

Freeman’s Walk-Off Grand Slam Wins Game 1 for Dodgers
Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off grand slam in the 10th inning to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-3 win over the New York Yankees in Game 1 of the 2024 World Series. The historic homer echoed Kirk Gibson’s iconic 1988 blast, as Freeman’s shot to right field secured a thrilling comeback victory. Down to their final out, the Dodgers capitalized on Yankees’ fielding errors and intentional walks to set the stage for Freeman’s grand slam. Earlier, Giancarlo Stanton had given the Yankees a temporary lead with a two-run homer, but the Dodgers rallied to tie the game in the eighth and retake the lead in the 10th. The stadium erupted in celebration as Freeman’s home run set the tone for a highly charged World Series opener.
