Utah Lake Henhouses Aim to Boost Duck Populations

Community groups in Utah are constructing henhouses on Utah Lake to help boost duck populations. The initiative, led by the Provo Bay Delta Waterfowl chapter, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, and the Utah Lake Authority, began last summer and has seen early success with many nests being used. The henhouses are designed to protect duck nests from predators, with plans to double the number of structures by 2025. However, the project faces challenges, including vandalism, and organizers are asking the public to respect the nests.

Mass Shooting on Chicago Blue Line Train Kills Four

Four people were shot and killed on a CTA Blue Line train in Forest Park, Chicago, early Monday morning. The victims, believed to be homeless, were targeted in what police described as a random attack. The suspect, who did not appear to know the victims, was apprehended later that morning on a CTA Pink Line train, with the help of surveillance footage. Police confirmed that the incident was isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the community. The attack has left the local community shocked, especially as it occurred on Labor Day.

Putin Arrives in Mongolia Amid ICC Arrest Warrant

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Mongolia for an official visit, marking his first trip to a country that is a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC) since the ICC issued an arrest warrant against him for alleged war crimes in Ukraine. Despite calls from Ukraine for Mongolia to arrest Putin, the Kremlin has expressed no concern about the visit. Mongolia, dependent on Russia and China for resources, is unlikely to enforce the arrest warrant. Putin's visit includes a ceremony commemorating the 1939 Soviet-Mongolian victory over Japan.
