Rare Nova Event Expected in September

A rare astronomical event will be visible from Earth in September, as the binary star system T Coronae Borealis, located 3,000 light-years away, is expected to undergo a nova explosion. This system, consisting of a white dwarf and a red giant, experiences such events roughly every 80 years. The explosion, visible to the naked eye, will be observable for about a week. Stargazers can locate this event by finding the constellation Corona Borealis, situated between the bright stars Arcturus and Vega. NASA will use advanced technology, including a gamma ray imager and the IXPE, to study this phenomenon and gain new insights into binary star systems.
