House of Representatives Passes SAVE Act to Ban Noncitizen Voting

The House of Representatives has passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which aims to ban noncitizens from voting in federal elections and requires states to enforce proof-of-citizenship and voter roll purges. Opponents argue the bill is redundant and could disenfranchise U.S. citizens. President Biden has pledged to veto the measure, and it faces strong opposition in the Senate.
