US Military Ends Temporary Floating Pier Mission in Gaza Due to Operational Challenges

The US military has ended its mission to operate a temporary floating pier in Gaza, aimed at delivering aid, due to weather, technical, and security issues. Although the pier facilitated the delivery of over 9,000 tonnes of aid, it was operational for only 20 days and faced multiple disruptions. Future aid will now be shipped to the Israeli port of Ashdod and then transported by lorry to Gaza. The mission was deemed a cost-effective effort to deliver aid in an active combat zone, though humanitarian organizations noted it only met a fraction of Gaza's needs.
