Meta's Latest Layoffs Reflect a Broader Trend of Ongoing Job Cuts
Recent layoffs at Meta, along with job cuts across other major tech companies, signal a new trend in Silicon Valley: recurring, smaller-scale layoffs rather than massive, one-time cutbacks. Companies like Meta, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are periodically trimming certain departments while shifting resources to growth areas like artificial intelligence. This strategy, dubbed the "new Big Tech normal," may help boost stock prices and appease investors, but it is hurting employee morale and long-term company stability. Workers, particularly in tech, are feeling increasingly insecure, leading some to seek opportunities in other industries or freelance roles for greater flexibility.

Zelenskyy Proposes NATO Membership to Secure Ukraine’s Future
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy unveiled a new "victory plan" to the Ukrainian parliament, proposing NATO membership for Ukraine and offering to replace U.S. troops in Europe with battle-tested Ukrainian forces. Zelenskyy suggested that these moves, alongside unrestricted use of long-range weapons and economic agreements, could help end the war with Russia by next year. The plan has faced mixed reactions, with critics calling it unrealistic and others highlighting past successes that seemed improbable. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán opposes the plan, urging for peace talks instead of escalating the conflict.
