Second Metal Bar Incident on I-15 Causes Injury and Near Miss

In a shocking repeat incident, a metal bar smashed through the windshield of a couple's car as they drove along I-15 in Midvale, Utah, on November 9, 2024. This is the second such case in the past two months on the same stretch of road. Both incidents involved a couple with the boyfriend driving his girlfriend’s car, each traveling at similar speeds, with an identical type of metal piece penetrating their windshield. The metal bar narrowly missed the driver, Shane Scheller, injuring his shoulder. The couple, who later discovered the story of the previous accident involving a similar piece of metal, believe the debris may have come from a trailer’s leaf spring. They have since sought legal advice.

Missing Kayaker Suspected of Faking Death, Fleeing to Europe

Ryan Borgwardt, a Wisconsin man who vanished while kayaking in August, is suspected of faking his death and fleeing to Eastern Europe. Authorities found his overturned kayak, life jacket, and fishing gear, initially believing he drowned. In October, however, they discovered Borgwardt’s name in a Canadian database, along with evidence suggesting he’d planned an escape, including foreign bank inquiries and communication with a woman from Uzbekistan. Green Lake County Sheriff urged Borgwardt to come forward, as investigators explore possible charges and restitution for the costly search. His wife is reportedly uninvolved.
