President Joe Biden declared a major disaster for North Carolina, mobilizing over 800 FEMA staff and resources to aid in recovery efforts.

U.K. Closes Last Coal-Fired Power Plant, Ending 140 Years of Coal Dependency

The U.K. permanently closed its last coal-fired power plant, Ratcliffe-on-Soar, marking the end of 140 years of coal-based electricity generation in the country. This move aligns with the U.K.'s commitment to phasing out coal and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The closure makes the U.K. the first G7 nation to completely eliminate coal as an energy source. Ratcliffe-on-Soar, which has been operational since 1967, had the capacity to power two million homes and played a key role in the country's energy supply. This milestone reflects a shift towards a cleaner energy future, as coal is considered one of the most harmful fossil fuels for the environment.

Osasuna 4-2 Barcelona: First League Defeat for Barça as Osasuna Deliver Shock Result

Osasuna stunned FC Barcelona with a 4-2 victory at Estadio El Sadar, ending Barcelona’s perfect start to the Liga season after seven consecutive wins. Ante Budimir was the standout performer for Osasuna, scoring twice and causing problems for the Barcelona defense throughout the match. Bryan Zaragoza and substitute Abel Bretones also found the net for the hosts, who took a two-goal lead before halftime. Despite goals from Pau Victor and Lamine Yamal for Barcelona, Osasuna’s disciplined play and clinical finishing secured a deserved victory. Barcelona remain top of the table with 21 points, but this result leaves Real Madrid a chance to close the gap.
