Mother Charged in Accidental Shooting Death of Eight-Year-Old Son

Jennifer Marie Pu’u, 44, has been charged with manslaughter and child abuse after her eight-year-old son accidentally shot himself with an unsecured gun in a parked car on September 2, 2024, in Lehi, Utah. The child, who had disabilities and functioned at a toddler's level, died the next day. Investigators found previous instances of unsecured firearms in Pu’u’s home, and discrepancies in her account of the gun’s location raised further concerns. She faces second-degree and third-degree felony charges, but she remains innocent unless proven guilty.

Honda Recalls 206,000 SUVs for Potential Fuel Leak Risks

Honda has recalled nearly 206,000 Passport and Pilot SUVs from model years 2023-2025 due to a potential fuel filler neck and pipe connection issue, which could lead to fuel leaks during crashes and increase fire risks. While no injuries or fatalities have been reported, Honda has identified one warranty claim related to the issue. Owners will be notified in early January 2025 and can have the parts inspected and repaired for free at authorized dealerships.

BYU Football Earns Three First Team All-Big 12 Selections in Historic Year

BYU football celebrated a historic season in the Big 12 with three players named to the All-Big 12 First Team: Caleb Etienne (offensive tackle), Will Ferrin (kicker), and Tyler Batty (defensive end). Ferrin was also recognized as Co-Special Teams Player of the Year. Additional honors included five Cougars named to the Second Team or as honorable mentions, showcasing BYU's depth and talent. Big 12 coaches, who determined the awards, highlighted BYU's improving program during its first year in the conference.
