West Jordan Man Faces Charges of Assault, Kidnapping, and Property Damage

David Anthony Mora, a 26-year-old man from West Jordan, Utah, was arrested on Sunday following allegations of assault, kidnapping, and crashing a vehicle into a home in West Valley City. The incident began with Mora reportedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend over several days, culminating in a violent altercation where he elbowed her, knocking out teeth. Mora allegedly took control of her car with her and two children inside, driving recklessly before crashing into a residential home, causing significant damage. After the crash, Mora fled with the woman's daughter but was apprehended after a brief chase. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping and domestic violence.

Gondola Malfunction at Colorado Resort Leaves 174 Stranded

A gondola malfunction at Winter Park Resort in Colorado on Saturday left 174 skiers and snowboarders stranded. The incident began around 12:15 p.m., and evacuations commenced at 1 p.m., with most parkgoers rescued by 5 p.m. The remaining 10% were safely evacuated by 6 p.m. despite darkness. The resort’s ski patrol, trained for emergency rescues, carried out the operation. Guests received compensation in the form of a $10 voucher and two lift passes. The faulty gondola part was promptly replaced, and no injuries were reported.

Parker Solar Probe to Achieve Closest Flyby of the Sun on Christmas Eve

NASA's Parker Solar Probe is set to achieve a new milestone on Christmas Eve, December 24, at 6:53 AM ET, by flying just 3.8 million miles from the Sun's surface. This approach marks the 22nd orbit of its mission and the closest flyby of the Sun by any spacecraft in history. The probe, launched in 2018, will complete a total of 24 orbits, with this being the first of its three final closest approaches. At its nearest point, the probe will travel at a speed of 430,000 miles per hour. Communications with the probe will resume on December 27 after it moves farther from the Sun.

BYU Secures Transfer Commitment from Former Texas Edge Rusher

BYU football has added Tausili Akana, a former Texas edge rusher and Skyridge High School standout, through the transfer portal. Akana, a 4-star recruit and the No. 2 overall prospect in Utah’s class of 2023, played two seasons at Texas primarily on special teams. Returning to Utah County, Akana brings a decorated high school resume, including 70 tackles and 14.5 sacks in a state championship season. With three years of eligibility remaining, he is expected to bolster BYU’s defense under Jay Hill. Akana joins three other transfers in BYU's current recruitment cycle.
