Provo Administration Building Closed After Electrical Incident

The Provo Administration Building in Utah County is temporarily closed following an electrical incident that occurred during upgrade work. While no injuries were reported, the disruption requires a full inspection, repairs, and air quality restoration before reopening. The electrical surge happened during the replacement of a component, but quick intervention by county staff prevented a fire. The Provo City Fire Department responded and monitored the situation until the early afternoon. Other government buildings, including the Historic Courthouse and Health and Justice buildings, remain open. Officials have not yet announced when the administration building will reopen, but updates will follow once safety checks are complete.

Trump Administration Reverses Funding Cut for Migrant Children's Legal Aid

The Trump administration has reversed its recent decision to halt funding for legal aid organizations assisting unaccompanied migrant children. A memo from the Department of Interior rescinds the February 18, 2025, stop-work order that had cut off support for groups like the Acacia Center for Justice and Kids in Need of Defense. The initial funding cut had sparked backlash, with advocates emphasizing the difficulty young children face in navigating immigration courts alone. Despite the reversal, thousands of unaccompanied minors still lack legal representation, with only 56% having legal counsel in immigration courts as of 2023.

China Conducts Second Live-Fire Drill Near New Zealand

New Zealand reported that China's navy conducted a second live-fire exercise in international waters near the country, following a similar drill between Australia and New Zealand that disrupted airline flights. The New Zealand Defence Force confirmed that Chinese naval vessels fired live rounds and communicated their intentions via radio. While New Zealand monitored and shadowed the fleet, officials noted China was acting within international law. Australia criticized China’s short-notice warning about Friday’s drill, calling it “disconcerting.” Despite Beijing’s assurance that the exercises followed international safety standards, tensions remain high as Australia and China recently clashed over military activities in the South China Sea.

Matthew Stafford Linked to Potential Trade to Giants

NFL rumors suggest a potential quarterback shake-up involving Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers. Reports indicate that Stafford could be traded to the New York Giants if he and the Rams cannot agree on a contract extension. The Giants, eager for a win-now move, might offer the trade compensation and salary Stafford seeks. Meanwhile, speculation suggests Rodgers could sign with the Rams on a favorable deal, giving the team financial flexibility for future contracts. Though just a prediction from an experienced NFL insider, the move would send both former NFC North rivals to their third NFL teams.
