Utah Woman Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter in Failed Suicide Pact

Heavenly Faith Garfield, a 22-year-old Utah woman, pleaded guilty to manslaughter after shooting her friend, Brooklyn Michelle Barrett, 21, as part of a failed suicide pact. The tragic event occurred in April when Garfield shot Barrett in the head at a Saratoga Springs home. Evidence supporting the pact included a signed note from both parties and messages between Barrett and a friend indicating her suicidal intent. Garfield initially planned to kill herself after Barrett but did not follow through. Prosecutors dismissed the original murder charge, and Garfield faces up to 15 years in prison.

Billboard Claims Venezuela’s Influence at Colorado-Wyoming State Line

A controversial billboard with the message "Venezuela Ahead, BE PREPARED!" has been erected along Interstate 25 at the Colorado-Wyoming state line, referencing concerns about the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua’s alleged presence in the Denver Metro Area. Aurora Police downplayed the gang’s influence, stating that only ten suspected members have been identified and nine arrested. The billboard is funded by Clipper Properties, LLC, linked to conservative megadonor Tim Mellon, who has contributed $165 million to support Donald Trump in the 2024 election cycle. The ad has sparked controversy but does not require campaign finance disclosure under Wyoming law.
