Study Reveals Christopher Columbus Was Likely a Sephardic Jew

A recent study by Spanish scientists, using DNA analysis, has revealed that Christopher Columbus was likely a Sephardic Jew from Western Europe, challenging the long-held belief that he was from Genoa, Italy. This 22-year investigation, led by forensic expert Miguel Lorente, involved testing Columbus's remains and those of his son, Hernando Colón, whose DNA showed markers compatible with Jewish heritage. This discovery adds to the historical debate over Columbus's origins, with earlier theories suggesting he might have been Spanish, Greek, Basque, or Portuguese. The study confirms that Columbus's final resting place is in Seville Cathedral, Spain, but it remains uncertain exactly where he was born.
