Historic Sentencing: Crumbleys Receive 10 to 15 Years for Involuntary Manslaughter
James and Jennifer Crumbley, parents of the Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley, were sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. This marks the first-time parents of a mass school shooter in the U.S. have been convicted for their role in such an incident. The sentencing came after emotional statements from the families of the victims, highlighting the devastating impact of the shooting. Despite arguments from the defense, the judge emphasized the parents' responsibility in providing unfettered access to guns and glorifying their possession. Prosecutors had sought the maximum sentence, citing the parents' lack of remorse and failure to prevent the tragedy.

Ending the Scheme: Spanish Government Moves to Abolish "Golden Visa" Program
The Spanish government has initiated the process of abolishing the "golden visa" scheme, which provides fast-tracked residency to foreign investors, particularly those investing in real estate worth €500,000 or more. Created in 2013 to attract foreign investment after the eurozone crisis, the scheme issued over 6,200 visas until 2023, with Chinese investors being the largest beneficiaries. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez cited the need to prioritize housing as a right over business speculation, especially in areas with soaring property prices. Critics argue that eliminating the scheme won't address the underlying issues of housing supply and demand. The move aligns with calls from left-wing allies and pressure from the European Commission to curb such programs due to security concerns.
