SpaceX Dragon Capsule Undocks for 17-Hour Journey Back to Earth

NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams are finally returning to Earth after an unexpected nine-month stay on the International Space Station (ISS). Originally scheduled for just eight days aboard Boeing’s Starliner, technical issues with the spacecraft forced an extended stay. They are traveling back with NASA’s Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov aboard a SpaceX Dragon capsule, which undocked from the ISS and will endure a fiery re-entry before splashing down in the ocean. The mission highlights the physical toll of long-term space travel, with astronauts experiencing bone density loss, muscle atrophy, and radiation exposure. Despite the challenges, Butch and Suni remained active, voting in the U.S. election and adapting to life in zero gravity.

Ukraine Agrees to Ceasefire Under U.S. Pressure but Tests Russia’s Intentions

Ukraine signed an unconditional ceasefire under U.S. pressure but is using the agreement to test Russia’s true commitment to peace. So far, Moscow has made no concessions, instead making demands such as permanently barring Ukraine from NATO. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Finland to discuss military support and European integration. At the same time, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are engaged in a high-stakes phone call, their second since January, as Trump seeks to negotiate an end to the war. However, reports suggest there is disagreement within the U.S. administration on how advanced the ceasefire talks really are, with Trump claiming progress while others remain cautious.
