Yellow Lake Fire Expands Rapidly to Over 15,000 Acres Due to Strong Winds

The Yellow Lake Fire in Heber, Utah, has now grown to over 15,000 acres, tripling in size due to strong winds and low humidity. With only 7% containment, mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for the North and West Forks of the Duchesne River, while a “ready” evacuation order remains for the Granddaddy Lakes area and Hanna. Fire crews are focusing on protecting structures and creating control lines. The fire is mostly burning parallel to Highway 150, and while growth is expected to continue, moderated conditions are providing better opportunities for containment.

Climbers Rescued After Being Stranded at 20,000 Feet on Himalayan Peak for Two Days

Two climbers, Fay Manners from Britain and Michelle Dvorak from the United States, were rescued after being stranded for two days at 20,000 feet on Chaukhamba Mountain in the Himalayas. The pair became trapped when a rope used to hoist their provisions snapped, causing them to lose all their essential supplies, including their tent, food, and climbing gear. As snow began to fall, they sheltered on a ledge with limited resources and sent an emergency text for help. While a helicopter crew initially failed to locate them due to harsh conditions, a French team found them, providing food, equipment, and an exact location for their eventual rescue.

LeBron and Bronny James Make NBA History in Preseason Debut as Teammates

LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, made NBA history by playing together for the first time during a Los Angeles Lakers preseason game against the Phoenix Suns. This landmark moment, which occurred on Bronny’s 20th birthday, marks the first time a father and son have played in the same NBA game, let alone on the same team. Bronny was drafted by the Lakers in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft after a year at the University of Southern California and a recovery from cardiac arrest. Although Bronny is expected to spend most of his season with the G League’s South Bay Lakers, the father-son duo is set to share the court again in a regular season game soon.
