Northwest Faces Heavy Rain, Snow, and Strong Winds Over Holiday Weekend

Severe storms are forecast to disrupt holiday travel across the U.S. this weekend, with the Pacific Northwest facing heavy rain, snow, and strong winds, and the East Coast bracing for thunderstorms and potential flooding. The Northwest is expected to receive 3–5 inches of rain and up to 3 feet of snow in elevated areas, causing hazardous travel conditions and risks of river flooding, rockslides, and mudslides. Meanwhile, storms moving northeast from Texas are projected to bring heavy rain, wind, and tornado threats to the south-central U.S., Appalachians, and Great Lakes. The mid-Atlantic and New England regions could experience significant travel delays due to downpours and urban flooding. Travelers are advised to adjust their plans accordingly.

Israeli Airstrikes Hit Yemeni Airports, Causing Civilian Casualties

Israeli airstrikes targeted Houthi-held regions in Yemen, including Sanaa International Airport, on December 26, 2024, causing significant damage and civilian casualties. WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was present during the strike but was unharmed. Israel stated the attacks were aimed at military infrastructure used by the Iran-backed Houthis, who have intensified missile and drone attacks in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. Meanwhile, in Gaza, an airstrike killed five individuals identified by Israel as militants posing as journalists, further escalating the conflict. The ongoing war has caused widespread devastation and significant humanitarian crises in both Gaza and Yemen.

Dallas Cowboys Shut Down CeeDee Lamb for Remainder of the Season

The Dallas Cowboys announced that wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will miss the rest of the season due to a worsening sprained AC joint in his shoulder, sustained during a November game against the Atlanta Falcons. Despite a stellar performance, including back-to-back 100-yard games, the Cowboys chose to prioritize his recovery since they are out of playoff contention. Lamb, who signed a lucrative extension in August, ranks among the NFL's top receivers this season. His absence adds to a string of injuries sidelining key Cowboys players. The team will rely on Brandin Cooks, Jalen Tolbert, and others to fill the void.
