Jayden Parker Sever Arrested on Charges of Raping Dementia Patients
Jayden Parker Sever, the 20-year-old son of Heber City Police Chief Parker Sever, has been arrested on charges of attempted rape and object rape of dementia patients at Spring Gardens Senior Living. The crimes, which occurred between February 1 and March 6, 2024, were revealed when Jayden confessed to his father, who then alerted the Attorney General’s Office. The victims, who suffer from severe dementia, cannot participate in interviews. Jayden, fired in March for unrelated reasons, faces a waiver hearing on July 31.

Park Fire Becomes One of California’s Largest Wildfires in History
The Park Fire in Northern California has become the eighth largest wildfire in California’s history, burning over 307,000 acres and prompting widespread evacuations across four counties. The fire, which has damaged or destroyed at least 134 structures and threatens 4,200 more, began as an arson incident. Cooler, more humid weather is aiding firefighting efforts, although hotter conditions are expected to return later in the week.

North Korean Hackers Conduct Global Cyber Espionage Campaign
North Korean hackers, identified as part of the Reconnaissance General Bureau, have been accused of a global cyber espionage campaign aimed at stealing classified military secrets to support Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons program. The hackers, known as Anadriel or APT45, have targeted numerous defense and engineering firms worldwide. The U.S. Justice Department has charged Rim Jong Hyok in connection with these activities.

Team USA secured its first medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in synchronized diving. Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook won silver in the 3-meter synchronized springboard competition, marking a significant achievement for the American duo.
