Tragic Murder-Suicide in American Fork
Olin Johnson, 57, fatally shot his wife Kerilyn Johnson, 52, before killing himself in their American Fork, Utah, home. Days before, Olin posted on Facebook about his love for motorcycles, referring to himself as a "crappy" person. The couple, married for 32 years, showed no outward signs of distress prior to the incident. Kerilyn was a music faculty member at BYU and beloved in her community. A GoFundMe has been set up to support their six children with funeral expenses.

Treasury Launches $100 Million Affordable Housing Initiative
The Treasury Department announced a $100 million investment over three years to increase affordable housing through the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. This initiative aims to finance thousands of affordable housing units, significantly reducing borrowing costs for housing finance agencies. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen emphasized that this effort is part of the Biden administration's broader strategy to reduce living costs, including healthcare and energy. Yellen is also urging Federal Home Loan Banks to double their support for housing programs, which could have added nearly $2 billion to housing initiatives over the past five years.

Tragic Fire at South Korean Lithium Battery Factory
A devastating fire at a lithium battery factory in Hwaseong, South Korea, killed over 20 people, mostly Chinese workers, with one Laotian also confirmed dead. The fire, which started after batteries exploded during inspection and packaging, quickly engulfed the building, making escape difficult. Rescue teams are investigating the cause and the effectiveness of fire safety systems. Florida Treasure Hunters Uncover 300-Year-Old Shipwreck Coins
Florida treasure hunters recently discovered hundreds of coins from the 1715 Treasure Fleet, which sank off the state's east coast during a hurricane. Despite decades of salvaging, this significant find surprised the divers due to its unexpected quantity. The recovered artifacts, including 214 coins, are being cleaned of 300 years' worth of sea dust. The fleet had set sail from Cuba to Spain, laden with New World treasures, but was lost in a hurricane shortly after departure.
