House Fire in Payson Causes Significant Damage
A house fire in Payson caused approximately $200,000 in damage and displaced nine people on Monday afternoon. The fire, occurring at 692 W. 500 South, was contained before destroying the entire home, but significant damage occurred to the garage and kitchen. Four fire engines responded to the scene. Although no injuries were reported, the displaced individuals, including two adults and three children from upstairs and two adults and two children from the basement, are receiving assistance from the Red Cross. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Manhunt Launched After Four Inmates Escape from Louisiana Jail
A manhunt is underway in Louisiana after four inmates escaped from Tangipahoa Parish Jail over the weekend. Two of the inmates, Omarion Hookfin and Jamarcus Cyprian, remain at large. The escape, unnoticed by jail staff until a relative of one of the escapees called to inform them, exploited a weak section of the jail's fence. Two of the escapees, Avery Guidry and Travon Johnson, were recaptured hiding in a dumpster behind a Dollar General store. An investigation into the jailbreak is ongoing, with the jail chief acknowledging issues with staffing and experience but emphasizing the need for corrective actions.

Belgium Pledges $1 Billion in Military Aid to Ukraine
Belgium has pledged $1 billion in military aid to Ukraine for 2024 and committed to providing 30 F-16 fighter jets over the next four years. This support comes as part of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's European tour to secure additional aid amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia. The Netherlands also promised to assemble a Patriot air defense system with key EU partners. NATO and EU leaders emphasized the urgent need for more air defense systems in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Hungary's objections continue to stall additional EU funds for Ukraine's defense efforts.

A woman walking in Kutná Hora, Czech Republic, discovered a significant medieval treasure, consisting of over 2,150 silver coins from 1085 to 1107. This find, considered one of the largest archaeological discoveries in the last decade, sheds light on a turbulent period in Bohemian history.
