Historical Context: Previous Energy Scandals vs. Current Situation
William S. Becker argues that the ongoing collaboration between the U.S. government and the fossil fuel industry constitutes the most significant energy scam in America's history. Despite decades of warnings about the environmental impacts of fossil fuels, government subsidies and support continue, allowing the industry to exert undue influence on policymakers. He calls for urgent action, including carbon pricing and an end to fossil fuel subsidies, to address the climate crisis exacerbated by the fossil fuel industry's actions.

Initial Figures vs. Revised Estimates: UN's Reporting on Gaza War Casualties
The United Nations has revised down the estimates of women and children deaths during Israel's war in Gaza by nearly half, raising questions about the accuracy of figures provided by Hamas. Initially, the UN reported that over 9,500 women and 14,500 children were among the 34,735 people killed. However, updated data reduced these figures to 4,959 women and 7,797 children. The UN relies on data from the Gaza Ministry of Health, controlled by Hamas, but acknowledges challenges in independently verifying the numbers. Israeli officials have disputed the death figures reported by Hamas, highlighting discrepancies in casualty counts.

Discovery of Raspberry: Serendipitous Finding in the Milky Way
Astronomers have discovered a new supernova remnant (SNR) candidate named "Raspberry" in the Milky Way's Scutum-Centaurus Arm. Detected during the ASKAP Evolutionary Map of the Universe survey, Raspberry exhibits a shell-like morphology typical of SNRs. Its diameter is estimated between 32.5 and 98 light years, with a distance of 10,000–16,000 light years. The SNR candidate also shows a possible circularly polarized point source, suggesting the presence of a neutron star or pulsar. Further investigation is needed to confirm Raspberry's SNR status.
