Discovery of Sub-Saturn and Saturn-Mass Planets

Astronomers have created a new catalog as part of the TESS-Keck Survey, documenting 126 exotic exoplanets with varied characteristics. This includes planets with extreme environments and others potentially capable of supporting life. The survey analyzed over 13,000 radial velocity measurements to determine the mass of these planets, aiding in understanding their composition and formation. Among the discoveries are a sub-Saturn and a Saturn-mass planet orbiting a solar-type star, and a planet with an ultra-short orbit around an orange dwarf star. These findings highlight the diverse nature of planetary systems and their formation processes.
