Cancellation of Rivalry Game Due to Threats
The rivalry football game between Provo High School and Timpview High School was canceled due to violent threats against Provo's coach, his players, and his daughter. The threats, originating from a Timpview supporter and posted on Instagram, led to a significant drop in school morale. A juvenile suspect has been identified, and the case has been referred to the Utah County Attorney’s Juvenile Division. The cancellation has sparked disappointment among students and educators, with calls for the community to reflect on their behavior and prioritize respect over rivalry.

Early Release and Transfer of Notorious Cartel Leader
The Biden administration plans to transfer Osiel Cárdenas Guillén, the former Gulf Cartel leader and founder of the violent Zetas gang, back to Mexico on Monday after serving 14 years of a 25-year U.S. prison sentence. Cárdenas Guillén, who was notorious for overseeing a vast drug trafficking empire and using extreme violence, was taken into ICE custody ahead of the handoff. Despite his early release, the reasons for the transfer have not been disclosed by U.S. officials. Cárdenas Guillén is wanted in Mexico on additional criminal charges.

15 ISIS Fighters Killed, Leaders Targeted
A U.S. military raid in Anbar, Iraq, on Thursday resulted in the deaths of at least 15 Islamic State (ISIS) fighters, including some leaders, and left at least six U.S. soldiers injured. The injuries included possible traumatic brain injuries and at least one external injury, though none were life-threatening. The operation aimed to disrupt ISIS’s ability to plan and execute attacks against civilians and U.S. interests. No civilian casualties were reported.

BYU Releases 2024 Game Day Attire Guidelines
BYU Athletics has released guidelines on what fans should wear to support the Cougar football team during the 2024 season. Fans attending home games are encouraged to wear royal blue, with a special white-out game against Kansas State. For away games, fans should also wear royal blue. Additionally, BYU Football has announced its 2024 team captains: Tyler Batty (DE), Jakob Robinson (CB), Chase Roberts (WR), and Connor Pay (IOL). These leaders will guide the team both on and off the field, with captains rotating at the coin toss and coordinating leadership responsibilities throughout the season.
