Johnson, who has a history of domestic violence and DUI charges, reportedly lived with the victim and admitted to arguing with her before the incident. He was also undergoing a divorce with another woman who had unsuccessfully sought a protective order against him earlier in the year. Authorities have stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.

End of Russian Gas Transit Leaves Moldova in Crisis

Moldova is facing an energy crisis after Russian gas supplies through Ukraine ceased on New Year’s Day, following Kyiv's refusal to renew a transit deal with Gazprom. The crisis has severely affected Transnistria, a pro-Russian separatist region reliant on Russian gas, where heating is limited to critical infrastructure. Moldova’s government plans to buy European electricity, increasing costs for citizens and businesses. Russia, blaming unpaid debts, is accused of using the crisis to destabilize Moldova politically and economically ahead of its 2025 elections. Analysts warn the situation may worsen tensions and influence Moldova’s EU ambitions.
