13-Year-Old Rescued from Provo River by Bystander

A 13-year-old boy with special needs was rescued from the Provo River on Tuesday afternoon. The boy entered the river at Riverside Park, and a bystander held onto him until rescuers arrived. The boy, unharmed, was checked by medics and returned to his family. Provo Fire and Rescue Captain Jeanie Atherton emphasized the dangers of the fast-moving river and advised the public to avoid entering the water without safety equipment. Officials continue to warn the public to stay away from rivers and streams due to high water levels.

Discovery of 1971 Vanished Jet in Lake Champlain

The wreckage of a jet that mysteriously vanished in 1971 has been found in Lake Champlain. The jet, carrying five men, disappeared shortly after taking off from Burlington, Vermont, on a snowy night. Despite multiple searches, no wreckage was found until last month when a team using sonar and a remotely operated vehicle discovered the remains near Juniper Island. This discovery provides closure for the victims' families, although it also raises new questions.

U.S. Navy Monitors Russian Fleet Near Florida

The U.S. Navy has deployed warships and aircraft to monitor a Russian naval flotilla that sailed close to South Florida en route to military exercises in the Caribbean. The flotilla includes three ships and a nuclear-powered submarine. While U.S. officials do not see an immediate threat, they are closely tracking the Russian vessels. The exercises are expected to culminate in global naval deployments, with stops in Cuba and possibly Venezuela.

The wreck of the Quest, the ship on which famed explorer Ernest Shackleton died in 1922, has been found on the ocean floor off the coast of Canada. Shackleton, a legendary explorer, had a significant history of polar expeditions, including the famous 1915 Endurance expedition. The Quest, used for various significant missions post-Shackleton's death, sank in 1962 off Newfoundland. The wreck was located using sonar and historical data by an international team and confirmed on Sunday. The discovery coincides with the 150th anniversary of Shackleton's birth, adding to its significance.
