Former College Athlete Pleads Guilty to Murder in 'Purge' Spree
Christian Francis Taele, a former college running back, has pleaded guilty to the murder of Ryan Hooley in Spanish Fork, Utah, as part of a killing spree in July 2022. Taele is also charged with the murder of Tyler Belinti in Ogden the following day. Claiming to be directed by a 'higher power' to 'purge' the city, Taele showed no remorse for his actions. A plea deal reduces the charge for Belinti's murder, with sentences to run consecutively. Sentencing for Hooley's murder is set for August 30, and Taele has a change of plea hearing scheduled for July 16 for the Ogden case.
