Discovery of Ancient River Branch Near Pyramids

A study published in Communications Earth and Environment reveals the discovery of a now-extinct river branch, named the Ahramat branch, near the foothills of where many Ancient Egyptian pyramids are located. Researchers from the US, Egypt, and Australia mapped this branch, which bordered 31 pyramids built between 4,700 and 3,700 years ago, helping to explain the high pyramid density between Giza and Lisht.
