Accident on Highway 191 Claims Three Lives

A tragic accident on Highway 191 north of Moab resulted in the deaths of three family members: Derik Hurst (31), Shandi R Hurst (28), and a one-month-old baby girl from Mancos, Colorado. The incident occurred when the driver of a white Chevrolet Suburban, traveling at high speed,crossed the centerline and collided with a motorhome towing a passenger vehicle.Two other passengers in the Suburban and two occupants in the motorhome were injured and taken to local hospitals. The Utah Highway Patrol is investigating the possibility of impairment as a contributing factor.

Sniper Captures Image of Trump Rally Shooter Before Attack

A sniper from a local tactical teamassisting the U.S. Secret Service at former President Donald Trump's rally captured a picture of the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, minutes before he attempted to assassinate Trump. The sniper observed Crooks using a rangefinder and alerted the command post. Despite efforts to track Crooks, he disappeared and then reappeared with a backpack. Crooks eventually scaled the building and began firing into the crowd. A U.S. Secret Service sniperneutralized Crooks with one shot. The attack resulted in the death of firefighter Corey Comperatore, and injuries to Trump, Marine Corps veteran David Dutch, and James Copenhaver.

Uncontacted Amazon Tribe Photographed Near Logging Area

Over 50 members of the uncontacted Mashco Piro tribe were recently photographed on a riverbank in the remote Peruvian Amazon near Monte Salvado, a village belonging to the Yine people. This sighting occurred close to areas where logging companies have government concessions. The presence of the loggers has reportedly angered the Mashco Piro, according to Survival International. The indigenous rights group FENAMAD criticized the Peruvian government for failing to protect the Mashco Piro's land and selling it to logging companies, despite evidence of the tribe's presence.

BYU Athletes Prepare for Paris Olympics

Seven current or former BYU track and field athletes, including Whittni Morgan and Courtney Wayment, are set to compete in the Paris Olympics. Wayment, from Kaysville, secured her spot on the U.S. Olympic team in the steeplechase after a strong finish. Morgan, from Panguitch, qualified for the 5,000-meter event despite recent knee surgery, benefiting from two competitors' decision to focus on other events. Both athletes express excitement and determination to perform well and enjoy the experience. Wayment aims to improve upon her previous world team performances, while Morgan looks forward to making the finals and running fast times.
